AMT - Active Myofacial Therapy

Active Myofacial Therapy (AMT) is a modality where the receiver actively participates in the recovery process by moving on and off the table and giving feedback to the therapist through out the session. AMT™ is right for you if you have not responded well to more traditional massage. Some pain issues that AMT address are: TMJ, migraines/headaches; chronic back pain, sciatica, chronic soft-tissue injury. 


Myofascial Release is a corrective massage therapy technique that can alleviate both specific and broader areas of pain.  Unlike deep tissue massage where the emphasis is on treating the deep tissues of the muscle, myofascial therapy uses manual pressure to stretch the fascial casing around the muscles. This frees up restricted areas allowing room for movement and blood flow. 


Trigger Point therapy alleviates pain caused by muscle overuse or injury.  Through cycles of isolated pressure and release the recipient actively participates through deep breathing as well as identifying the exact location and intensity of the discomfort. The result is the elimination of toxins in the muscles and the release of energizing endorphins. Pain relief is often experienced after just one treatment.

Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation. Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. Deep Tissue Massage is a deeper form of bodywork that relieves tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. The practitioner applies very slow and deliberate pressure either with a forearm, finger, fist, or elbow to a particular muscle area until the muscle releases its tension. It is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. 


Hot stone massage is hailed as the most indulgent spa luxury massage experiences but it is also very beneficial on a medical level. Warmed stones and massage techniques are placed on key parts of the body to relax tense muscles, relieve pain and stiffness and improve circulation. The treatment can be used for muscular aches, arthritic conditions and autoimmune disorders and, of course, for pure relaxation. 


Thai massage is a form of bodywork, quite unlike any other Western or Eastern forms offering the many of the same benefits as yoga. Lovingly called “The Lazy Mans Yoga” you remain passive while the practitioner moves through deep muscle stretching, joint release with the emphasis on the breath. Thai massage offers many of the same benefits as yoga and particularly helpful in stretching a stiff, fatigued body.

Amanda's Signature Stretching Massage is Massage In Soma's Flagship session. This massage addresses the body, mind and spirit rolled into a 90min or 2hr session. With the help of modern ambient music along with a combination of spa, energetic, and stretching techniques you will be transported into an experience of mental expansion and deep relaxation. Many clients have commented after their session that they feel amazing in their body and mind and of course well stretched! 


Esalen Massage is a sister massage to Swedish. It’s roots are taken from many other modalities such as oriental medicine, meditation, gestalt and somatic mind-body psychology. Long, sweeping, flowing strokes are applied up and down the body creating waves of energy, awakening the sleeping spirit and mind from within. It is not unusual to hear, “That was the most amazing massage I’ve ever received!” 


Escape Session is geared toward alleviating deeply rooted chronic stress. By using specific binary beat music paired with specific massage moves the practitioner is able to create a safe space for the body to naturally unwind while the mind is given a chance to expand within it's own space and time. The Escape Session is used in our Stress Re-Education Program or can be enjoyed as a solo session.
